How does Boutique Whitening work?
- Custom Trays – We begin by taking a digital oral scan of your teeth to create your custom-made whitening trays. This is a comfortable and stress-free process as it does not involve the old system of using impression materials.
- Whitening Gel – At a follow-up appointment, you’ll be shown how to use the trays and apply the Boutique whitening gel safely. You’ll then wear the trays either during the day or overnight for approximately 2-3 weeks.

Does teeth whitening damage my teeth or gums?
No. Research shows that dentist-prescribed home whitening treatments are safe when used correctly.
Does teeth whitening hurt?
Teeth whitening is not painful, but some people may experience temporary sensitivity. Two short-term side effects can occur:
Tooth sensitivity or tingling – this is common at the start of treatment and usually settles. We recommend using a desensitising toothpaste for sensitive teeth during treatment. If sensitivity becomes uncomfortable, stop whitening and contact your dentist.
Gum irritation – the whitening gel may occasionally cause mild irritation or temporary white patches on the gums. These are harmless and usually disappear within a week after finishing treatment.
How long does teeth whitening last?
With good oral hygiene and occasional top-up treatments, results can last for a long time. Teeth naturally darken with age, and staining habits such as smoking or consuming tea, coffee, or red wine can reduce longevity.
