  • Comfort – With no wires or brackets, Invisalign aligners greatly reduce the irritation and discomfort commonly experienced with traditional braces.
  • Easier Dental Hygiene – Because the aligners are removable, you can easily brush, floss, and enjoy your favourite foods without the limitations that come with fixed braces.

The Invisalign Journey

We use a carefully planned, step-by-step approach to ensure your implant treatment is safe, comfortable, and successful.

1

Your Initial Consultation

At your first visit to Cherwell Heights Dental Care for Invisalign treatment, we’ll assess your teeth and discuss your smile goals. We’ll confirm whether Invisalign is right for you and explain the treatment process, expected timeline, and costs involved. We will also take photos your teeth as well as a digital scan in order to show you what your teeth could look like after treatment.

2

Your Clincheck

If you decide to go ahead with Invisalign treatment, we will send the photos and scan to the Invisalign laboratory, where your custom aligners are made. You’ll even get to preview your future smile with advanced 3D imaging – known as the clincheck. This is essentially your treatment plan; outlining how long it will take to get the desired results. We can also use this to tweak your tooth movements until you are absolutely happy with the proposed end result.

3

Fitting Your First Aligner

Once your aligners are ready, you’ll return to the practice for your fitting. We may place small, tooth coloured attachments on your teeth to help the aligners stay in place. These are temporary and comfortable. Your dentist will ensure your aligners fit perfectly and guide you on how to care for them.

4

Progress and Follow-Ups

You’ll change your aligners approximately every 7-14 days as directed, gradually moving your teeth into their new positions. Aligners should be worn for about 22 hours a day, removing them only for eating, drinking and cleaning. Regular assessment helps ensure your treatment stays on track.

5

Your New Smile

By the end of your treatment, your teeth will have moved into their ideal alignment. Results depend on your initial case, but with consistent wear, you can expect a beautifully straight smile.

6

Teeth Whitening – optional extra

At Cherwell Heights Dental care we find that after teeth straightening, many of our patients like to enhance their smile further with teeth whitening. We provide Boutique at-home teeth whitening should you wish, just ask your dentist.

7

Retainers and Maintenance

To keep your new smile in place, you will be required to wear retainers after treatment, long term. At Cherwell Heights Dental Care we recommend fixed retainers and / or Vivera removable retainers. Wearing them as advised by your dentist will prevent your teeth from shifting. Then you’re ready to enjoy your confident, radiant new smile.

FAQs Invisalign

Are Invisalign aligners suitable for everyone?

Clear aligners are an excellent option for many adults seeking a discreet way to straighten their teeth. However, they may not be suitable for more complex cases, such as severe crowding, large gaps, or significant bite issues. During your consultation at Cherwell Heights Dental Care, we’ll carefully assess your smile and advise whether Invisalign is the right solution for you.

How many hours a day should I wear Invisalign aligners?

For optimal results, aligners should be worn for approximately 22 hours per day and only removed for eating, drinking and cleaning your teeth.

Will Invisalign affect my speech?

Some patients notice a slight lisp when they first begin wearing aligners, but this is usually temporary and resolves within a few days as your mouth adapts.

Can I eat and drink while wearing my aligners?

Aligners should be removed before eating or drinking anything other than water, to prevent damage or staining.

How do I clean my aligners?

Rinse your aligners with cold water and gently clean them using a soft toothbrush and mild soap. Avoid abrasive or whitening toothpaste, as this can scratch the aligners. Retainer cleaning tablets can also be used for a more thorough clean.

How often will I need to visit the dentist during treatment?

Review appointments are typically scheduled every 4-8 weeks. These visits allow your dentist to monitor progress, provide new aligners and make any necessary adjustments.

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment times vary depending on individual needs, but most patients complete their Invisalign treatment within 6 – 18 months.

Are Invisalign aligners painful?

You may experience mild pressure or discomfort when switching to a new set of aligners. This is normal and indicates that your teeth are moving as planned, and any soreness usually subsides within a few days.

How should I store my aligners when not in use?

Always place your aligners in their protective case when they’re not being worn. Avoid wrapping them in tissues or napkins, as they can easily be lost or accidentally thrown away.

What should I do if I lose an aligner?

If you lose or break an aligner, contact the practice as soon as possible. Depending on your treatment stage, we may advise moving on to your next aligner or wearing your previous one until a replacement is arranged.

Will I need a retainer after Invisalign treatment?

Yes you will need to wear retainers at night time after treatment. Wearing a retainer after treatment is essential to maintain your results, as teeth can naturally shift over time. Retainers help keep your smile beautifully aligned.
