Your guide to Dental Implants in Oxfordshire:

Trying to understand how you can replace missing teeth with implants can be over whelming; you’ve heard about implants but how do they actually work?

If you’re based around Banbury, Chipping Norton, Bicester, Brackley, Bloxham and other parts of Oxfordshire and looking for some more information on dental implants, you’re in the right place; this is your complete guide to dental implants in Oxfordshire:

What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a long-term replacement for a missing tooth. It consists of three parts:

  1. The Implant: A small, titanium screw that acts as an artificial tooth root, placed into your jawbone
  2. The Abutment: A connector that attaches to the implant and securely holds your new tooth
  3. The Crown: A custom-made, natural-looking false tooth (or bridge/denture for multiple teeth) that is fixed onto the abutment.

Together, they create a stable, permanent solution that looks, feels, and functions like a natural tooth.

What are the advantages of Dental Implants?

Implants are now considered the gold standard for tooth replacement for the following reasons:

  • Fixed option: Eat, speak, and smile with complete confidence-no moving or dietary restrictions and no need to remove anything overnight
  • Long-Term & Durable: With proper care, implants are designed as a long term option that doesn’t often need replacement
  • Doesn’t affect adjacent teeth: No need to grind down adjacent healthy teeth, as required for a traditional bridge

What does the treatment involve?

Implants are placed by our specialist prosthodontist, Farhan Janjua and the treatment is carried out in stages:

  1. Consultation & Planning: A thorough examination including photos, X rays and a 3D scan using our in house CT scanner. A full report will then be sent to you with all the findings and recommendations. Dr Janjua will carefully plan your case.
  2. Implant Placement: The implant is gently and precisely placed in a minor surgical procedure.
  3. Healing & Integration: A period of 3-6 months allows the implant to fuse securely with your jawbone (osseointegration).
  4. Abutment & Crown Fitting: Once healed, your custom-made crown is attached, completing your new smile.

Is it painful to have Dental Implants?

The procedure to place the implant is done in the same way most dental treatment is carried out; under local anaesthetic. The appointment can be as quick as an hour. You may experience some discomfort or swelling after the placement but this can be controlled with regular painkillers. Dr Janjua will give you his contact details should you have any queries or need advice in the days after your surgery.

How Long Do Dental Implants Last?

With proper care and good oral hygiene, dental implants can last for decades. The crown may need replacement due to general wear after 10-15 years, but the implant fixture itself is designed to be permanent. Their high success rate (over 95%) makes them a very reliable, long-term investment.

How much do Dental Implants cost?

The cost depends on individual circumstances and can vary, however generally a dental implant plus crown starts at £3300. Payment is usually split up over the course of your appointments with just a small deposit to secure your treatment initially. We also offer 0% finance up to 12 months with interest included options for up to 5 years.
